05  THE BLUE PARADOX

S.C. Johnson:
The Blue Paradox

An immersive experience created in partnership with SC Johnson and Conservation International, The Blue Paradox invites a broad audience to reach a deeper understanding of a nuanced problem: that we need plastic, but it is destroying us.

This free event, held in London September of 2021, educated viewers on humanity’s role in this crisis.

I aided in concepting and designing each unique room.

ROOM 01: THE ROLE OF THE OCEAN

An immersive 360º theatre experience

ROOM 02: PROBLEMS & IMPACTS

Data visualization to show the rate at which plastic particles are entering the ocean, where the bulk of the plastic is coming from, and how it ultimately affects all aspects of marine and human life. Features a responsive particle system on the wall.

ROOM 03: THE PLASTIC PARADOX

A series of interactive plinths feature a set of question & answer animations, shedding light on the intricacies and complexities we face in dealing with the ocean-plastic problem.

ROOM 04: THE TIPPING POINT

Revolving conveyors of common products illustrate the overwhelming volume of plastic juxtaposed with realistic statistics about recycling practices – showing the relationship between consumption and disposal.

ROOM 05: THE ROLE OF THE OCEAN

The final chapter of The Blue Paradox focuses on the power of individual and collective action. This Room features several interactive elements that range from education on each guests own plastic waste, and  invites guests to learn how industry and organizations are innovating to implement real change to help save the ocean and the planet.
